Why Uncharted Is The Greatest Game Series Ever
Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to play hundreds of games on a range of consoles from the original Xbox and Wii to the PS4. I have lived through some genuine masterpieces notably GTA, The Last Of Us, Spiderman, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario Galaxy, Batman and Portal 2. But one game series is honestly unforgettable and outshines the rest — but why?
The game is literally gripping from the first moment you are thrown into the gunfight in Uncharted 1 and maintains a thick plot throughout every single game to keep you on the edge of your seat. There are almost no cliché scenes and the chapter layout helps with pacing.
2. Character Development
Naughty Dog have made sure to develop characters gradually such that you develop a relationship with the main characters and become quite immersed in the game. As you progress through the games, you will notice new dimensions to each person making the game that much more exciting.
Imagine a combination of Mission Impossible, Die Hard and Indiana Jones. Terrific high-octane gunplay, realistic fighting and driving mechanics and interesting puzzles makes the hours fly by.
4. Environment Design
A quarter of my gameplay time is literally filled with sight-seeing the gorgeous landscapes that have been careful painted by Naughty Dog. From snowy mountains to humid rainforests, you can get a taste of every season right from your living room.
Naughty Dog are known to be rather meticulous when it comes to developing games and specifically what happens when the character interacts with the environment. For example, you need to manually wrap the car winch around a tree before you can heave yourself over a slippery muddy slope.
